listen to songs

When we are invited to a bedside, a small group (usually two to four of us) will spend about a half hour singing very, very softly to your loved one. We sing in much the same way that a mother sings to a child.

Music has a way of quieting fears and opening the hearts of all present, including family members and caregivers. Not surprisingly, loved ones usually respond by becoming calmer and more settled. Often, there is emotional release.

Songs are chosen with the current needs and spiritual orientation of your loved one in mind. Our repertoire includes lullabies, simple rounds, chants, and songs from many spiritual traditions. Click the video player at the top of this page to watch a brief Youtube video with a few sample songs. Or listen to Michigan Radio's feature story on our choir, which also includes singing clips.

"A Gift of Song" events

Everyone is invited to join us at A Gift of Song events held twice a year. We welcome people of all ages and genders who are comfortable listening quietly or joining us in quiet singing. There is no charge to attend. This will give you the opportunity to experience the comfort of loving song wherever you are in life’s journey.

Our last Gift of Song was held on Sunday, March 26, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, located at 3257 Lohr Rd in Ann Arbor. View or download the Gift of Song flyer. The next event has not yet been scheduled.
