Coming to Ann Arbor March 15-16!

Come experience the joy and excitement of singing with world-renowned singer, composer, music director, and vocal activist Melanie DeMore!

The 3-time Grammy Award nominee will lead a Community Sing on Sunday, March 16, 3-5 pm at the First Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 4001 Ann Arbor Saline Road in Ann Arbor. All are welcome to attend this free event (donations are welcome).

Ms. DeMore will also be the Guest Artist at the March 16, 10:30 am Sunday Service of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation, 3257 Lohr Road, Ann Arbor. The public is invited to attend.

The events are sponsored by Threshold Singers of Ann Arbor, a group which provides music for hospice patients and those undergoing difficult times in their lives.

Ms. DeMore was last seen in Ann Arbor in 2019 as the emcee of “A Grand Night for Singing,” a concert by the University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance.

Ms. DeMore is a founding member of the Linda Tillery Ensemble and the Cultural Heritage Choir. She has been a guest artist at numerous venues including the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis and the 2023 Chorus America Conference. She has composed works for children, community-based organizations, and the Threshold Choir International. She is able to lead groups in all genres of music while helping all understand the backgrounds and appropriate public use of the compositions. Her own work is performed by choruses and individuals world-wide.

Members of Threshold choirs are invited to participate in a day-long workshop with Melanie DeMore on Saturday, March 15.

Those of us who have been to previous workshops with Melanie know that you will be inspired, heartened, and filled with the hope and deep caring that are the hallmarks of singing at bedsides. And besides, there will be laughter, sharing, and community-building that will help sustain you in the days to come.

Space is limited, so sign up early! Continental breakfast and lunch are included in the admission charge of $50 per person for the day.
